Traveling the Cassiar Highway

We spent four days on the Cassiar Highway traveling north. One full day we spent on the side trip to Hyder Alaska / Stewart BC and the Salmon Glacier. The salmon were not running yet, it was mid June 2017, so there was no bear viewing and the “town” felt like it was still hibernating, though it was unclear if it ever didn’t feel this way. Our day driving through this landscape around Hyder was the most spectacular part of this whole drive, topped off by a glorious blue sky, and a prime campsite on the beautiful Mezidian Lake. We had only planned to camp here for one night, but we got a lake front spot and the weather was so perfect we stayed for two nights and could have stayed the week.
